The day before yesterday my Mother and I were coming home from a pleasant evening out of town and noticed a kitty on the side of the road. Being the animal lovers that we are, we then stopped our car, rolled down the window and started talking to the husky, ashy grey, adult cat. This specific cat didn't seem to be a stray because it didn't run or be even remotely afraid. It started walking slowly towards the car and cried out to us with a deep voice. I opened the car door, picked the well fed cat up and sat it on my lap. As my mother and I continued to talk about the kitty we came to the conclusion that this cat was one-hundred percent NOT a stray. It had been dropped off by someone heartless. It was late and freezing. It began to snow that night. If we hadn't been out that late, no one would have seen it. The sweet kitty spent that night with us. He was the most well behaved cat I had ever met; such a great pet. Who wouldn't want him? And who could and WAS heartless enough to abandon a sweet little cat like this one out on the cold streets on a night like that? I felt like he was ours as soon as I had picked him up that night. If my family and I didn't already have four cats and a dog, we would have certainly kept him. Fortunately, my Mom found him a great home and he will certainly be loved and taken care of. I did name him for myself though. Even if this won't be his real name, he will forever be sweet Greyson.

P.S. I encourage each and every one of you to NOT purchase animals from a pet store. Yes, every animal needs a home but the ones that are desperately in need of a home are the ones who have been abandoned on the side of the road and the ones in your local animal shelter. So next time you decide to purchase an animal from a pet store, be sure and remember this post... and Greyson's sweet disposition.
Greyson and I
I'm so glad that you two were the ones who happened to stumble upon Greyson. It's heartwrenching to think of the suffering these animals have to endure at the hands of humans.
ReplyDeleteI agree Andrea. Us animal lovers have to stick together... for the sake of the sweet babies.
